Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in especial - resulted in him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-term trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court since spring of the previous year.

Victory also indicates he has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child her name, because the initial championship I won when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had failed in his past six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his capacity to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He came back from a break down in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, seized the initiative to create a final set.

The opponent defended four early-game opportunities in a tight final set before Medvedev won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
